Open Source AI Coding Assistants: The Future of Software Development

Open source AI coding assistants are a new breed of software development tools that use artificial intelligence to help developers write code faster, more accurately, and more efficiently. These tools can provide a variety of features, such as code completion, generating unit tests, and refactoring.

Coding assistants are still in their early stages of development, but they have the potential to revolutionize the way software is developed. At Sourcegraph, we are building our own named Cody, under the Apache 2.0 license. We have learned a lot in a short amount of time and would love to share where we believe the puck is headed.
